Man Charged in Car Wreck That Killed Mount Airy Woman
News

A man was arrested Thursday in connection to the death of a woman who was ejected from a car last year in Winston-Salem.

Joshua Sean Bowman, 22, of Yadkinville, was the driver in a single-vehicle wreck that killed passenger Rhiannon Nicole Rupert, 29, of Mount Airy, police said.

The two were headed west in a 2001 Audi Coupe on Brookstown Avenue around 2 a.m. Dec. 13 at the time of the wreck.

Police said they veered off the street after crossing over West End Boulevard. The car went airborne, flipped and landed in the center of Hanes Park near the walking track.

Both were taken to Baptist Hospital, where Rupert was pronounced dead. Bowman was injured.

Bowman was charged with felony death by vehicle and driving while in intoxicated. He received a $100,000 bond and has a Feb. 10 court date.
