Elkin Residents Charged With Manufacturing Meth

Two Elkin men face charges of making methamphetamine after deputies found drug-making materials in their residence.

Brian Keith Richardson, 32, and Curtis Shawn Settle, 34, were arrested and charged with various drug offenses Thursday.

Deputies said they received reports of a Richardson walking around in the roadway carrying a rifle on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Richardson allegedly gave no explanation why he had the rifle when deputies responded.

He told officers he was staying nearby at 4512 Don Everett Drive. Deputies went to the home and found Settle and also discovered chemicals used to make methamphetamine.

Officers executed a search warrant and discovered several hazardous chemicals, cold medication, and items used in the preparation and packaging of illegal narcotics.
